The Hartland Chamber of Commerce is an active and growing organization dedicated to supporting local businesses and strengthening our community. We are seeking a motivated, organized, and community-minded individual to join our team as a Part-Time Chamber Business Assistant.

 

This role supports the daily operations of the Chamber office and assists with member engagement, communications, and event coordination. The ideal candidate is familiar with the Hartland area, enjoys working with the public, and is comfortable managing a variety of administrative and communications tasks.

 

Position Overview

 

The Chamber Business Assistant works closely with the Chamber Executive Director to support operations, communications, and events. Responsibilities include assisting with e-newsletters, social media updates, event planning support, and general office administration.

 

This position requires both independent work and collaboration to help plan and facilitate professional development programs, networking events, and community activities.

 

Key Responsibilities

 
  • Perform general office duties including answering phones, filing, mailings, membership and relocation packet preparation, and operating office equipment

  • Prepare correspondence including member letters, reports, flyers, and other communications

  • Assist with spreadsheets, reports, and document preparation

  • Maintain and update the Chamber database, including referral tracking

  • Assist with e-newsletter preparation and digital communications

  • Update and grow the Chamber’s social media presence

  • Assist with planning and coordinating Chamber meetings, events, and programs

  • Support volunteer recruitment for Chamber initiatives and events

  • Represent the Chamber at events and meetings as assigned

  • Help maintain the appearance of the office, including light cleaning and seasonal tasks such as snow removal

 

Qualifications

 
  • Mature, responsible individual 18 years or older

  • College degree preferred

  • Experience in an office or business environment preferred

  • Familiarity with the Hartland area and local business community

  • Reliable transportation for occasional local travel

  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines

  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating as part of a team

  • Professional communication and customer service skills

  • Ability to interact effectively with members, volunteers, and the public

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

  • Proficiency with Google Workspace

  • Experience with ChamberMaster, Constant Contact, and Canva is a plus

  • Working knowledge of social media platforms

  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion

  • Ability to lift materials and stand for extended periods during events

  • Some evening or weekend hours may be required for Chamber events.
